ServiceMaster Clean sponsors two rugby clubs in Newbury and Swindon with kits and pitch-side signage.

The team at ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland are proud to announce that they are sponsors of the local Swindon Supermarine RFC under 12s and Newbury RFC rugby teams.

 Managing Director Andre Gottemaker said,

“We have always believed it’s important to give back to the local community, and supporting local sports teams is a great way to do this.  Both clubs also have vibrant youth teams, and it’s fantastic to be a part of encouraging young people to get into sport.”

Andre visited the Supermarine U12s on Sunday at their match against Cirencester to present the team with their new shirts and shorts.

The constant rain throughout the morning made for a very muddy experience but didn’t dim the excitement of having a brand-new kit to play in.

After the kit was presented, the boys had great fun chasing Andre across the pitch to get him as muddy as possible!

Commenting on the sponsorships, the Deeland team said:

“We are proud to be associated with the [U12] club.  [We’re] wishing them a successful season with lots more mud, fun and excellent rugby!”

“We are also delighted to continue our sponsorship of Newbury Rugby Club this season.

It’s great to hear about the growth in participation, especially amongst the ladies and youth teams. The club is thriving, and we’re looking forward to some great matches!”

ServiceMaster Clean by Deeland has raised over £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support through a very successful coffee morning.

Macmillan Cancer Support’s coffee mornings are the staple of their fundraising.

First started in 1990, the idea was simple: get people together over a coffee and donate the cost of their beverage to Macmillan.

But it was a hit and became an annual event. To date, coffee mornings have raised over £310 million for Macmillan!

Macmillan Coffee Morning by Deeland

This year, the official coffee morning date was late September, but people can choose any date they wish to participate.

So, there is plenty of the year left to host your own!

ServiceMaster Clean Deeland recently hosted their coffee morning and raised over £700!

This has contributed to this year’s coffee morning national total of £6,166,878, which can fund 98 Macmillan nurses and the work they do for a whole year!

Business Services Director Jane Paisley says:

“We are delighted to have raised over £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support.  A big thank you to everyone who baked, ate, raffled and donated to help achieve this!”

ServiceMaster Clean Newbury had a very successful evening recently at the ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Summer Summit, receiving two awards for growth.

At ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services, we always strive to go above and beyond in all we do, whether it’s exceeding our client’s expectations, nurturing relationships with our staff and customers or developing a thriving franchise network.

Earlier this month, we celebrated many of our franchise business owners who go above and beyond as part of our annual conference, the ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Summer Summit.

This fantastic day allowed our franchisees from across the UK to come together with staff from our head office and event sponsors from different companies to network, develop, and celebrate their businesses.

Awards for ServiceMaster Clean Newbury

To close the day, a black-tie awards evening saw various franchisees awarded for their recent achievements and contributions to our network and the cleaning industry.

Amongst the winners was ServiceMaster Clean Newbury, who last year won the coveted North Star Invest Award, and this year won multiple awards for growth in the business.

The Awards Won

These included two awards for achieving exceptional business growth milestones. The first was for growth of over £500,000 in one year, and the second was for over £1 million growth over five years.

Since becoming an EOT in 2021 and making the staff the owners, ServiceMaster Newbury has focused on growth by working hard to retain its existing clients and secure new ones whilst continuing to deliver the same high standards their clients expect and deserve.

With the employees owning the majority of shares in the company, they are incredibly motivated to go above and beyond in the services they provide for their customers.

This desire to grow and develop the business has included an emphasis on sales and a particular effort to nurture and develop staff talent in sales-oriented roles.

The business has also started to access new, high-value markets and made a particular effort to listen to customer needs. This strategy’s benefits are now paying off, as demonstrated by these two awards for growth.

Business Services Director Jane Paisley said

“If everyone is committed to delivering the best service, maintaining professional standards, and working together to achieve this, a business can develop and grow.”

“Our continued growth will provide opportunities for investment in our people, equipment, green initiatives and the wider community.”

“Winning these awards is the culmination of everyone’s hard work over the past five years. It Is wonderful to have this hard work recognised by the presentation of these two awards at the CS Summer Summit 2023.”

“We were very proud to win both these awards and share this experience with our fellow franchisees.”

Nick Dee Shapland, M.D. of Deeland Limited t/a ServiceMaster Clean Newbury voiced his delight to say that it was great to be recognised by ServiceMaster our Franchisor for the Sales Results we had produced this last year.

Managing Director of ServiceMaster Limited (Franchisor), Alan Lewin said: “It was great to see so many of our franchise community and suppliers gathered together to engage in the Summer Summit event. I am always appreciative of the commitment that our franchisees and suppliers make in taking a day out of their business to invest time with peers, colleagues & the franchise support team at ServiceMaster.

“We recognise achievements in the categories of Growth, People, Customer and Invest, these headings form part of our organisational “North Star” which we use as is a simple guide to cultural performance and strategic execution for all stakeholders across our community.

“We recognise the big obvious stuff like, rising NPS scores, customer service accolades, established franchisees that have grown their revenues by in excess of £1m+, and new franchisees that have got great results from their startup, and beaten their financial projections” finished Alan.

Recognising some of the less obvious, but nonetheless, culturally vital parts of franchising are imperative to ServiceMaster and the Summer Summit conference allowed this to happen.

Awards were given for not only growth, but also to those that have given back to their community, or employees of franchisees that have demonstrated their commitment to the brand attributes engaging in initiatives and actions with colleagues and customers well beyond their job description, very often in their own time at their own expense.

The Avril Bannister award is given to a member of staff who has won the Monthly OSCAR (Outstanding Service Commitment and Recognition) Award during the year. This award is based on someone voting for their fellow colleague who they feel has made a considerable difference to the way the company performs.

The company owned by Nick Dee Shapland is a franchise of ServiceMaster Limited and was started up in 1991, Nick explained that his business has gone from strength over the last 27 years through following the ServiceMaster philosophy of Principles – People – Performance and this award went to Doreen who is better known for her nick name Jazz for the way she embraces the culture of our business. Jaz has been working for ServiceMaster since 2012 covering all aspects of Communal Cleaning Services as Site Supervisor, at Seven Vale based in Tewkesbury. According to her colleagues, she regularly goes above and beyond so often so, that they have lost track of how many times she has helped out on contracts, smoothed the path with clients and stepped in when there are staff shortages, extra requirements and help needed.

“There was a time when we had no staff available to cover the Regency Hall of Residence at Cheltenham University, however Jazz very thoughtfully gave up her holiday and stepped in to save the day. “She is well respected both in and out of the office, by staff and customers alike. She is well known for her great smile and “can do” attitude which encourages her team to work alongside her to get the job done.”

The award is given in the name of Avril Bannister who was with ServiceMaster Newbury for 15 years, during which time she displayed many qualities as an employee and especially as a person. Sadly, Avril passed away after a brave battle against cancer, this award is designed to remember her and honour employees who exhibit the same high standards in their work,

Jazz second ward came on the 14th June at the ServiceMaster Clean Conference held in Leicester when she received the ServiceMaster Franchisee’s Employee of the Year award for going above and beyond. This was based on the submission given by ServiceMaster Clean Newbury to ServiceMaster Limited, Alan Lewin the M.D. of ServiceMaster Limited, highlighted  the contribution made by people such as Jazz to the success of the ServiceMaster Clean Network.
