At ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Peterborough, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our people — both in and out of work. This month, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our own: Andy Skutela, a dedicated Supervisor from our Peterborough team, who has shown extraordinary determination and heart in taking on a truly meaningful challenge.

Great Eastern Run

On 12th October 2025, Andy took part in the Great Eastern Run — a half marathon with a personal mission. His goal was to raise £1,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, a charity that has supported Andy and his family through some of their most difficult times.

“The staff were incredible, not only looking after them but also supporting us as a family. I’ll always be grateful, and I want to give something back to help others receive the same care,”
– Andy Skutela

For Andy, this wasn’t just about giving back — it was also about pushing himself further than he ever thought possible. After a major ankle surgery that involved a bone graft from his hip, Andy faced a long and painful recovery. There were moments when he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to run again. Yet, through sheer determination, he refused to let that stop him.

The Backstory

During his training, Andy also battled two nodules on his lungs and other breathing difficulties, making this challenge not only physical but deeply emotional and mental as well. His resilience, strength, and spirit have inspired everyone across the ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP network.

The entire team has been behind Andy every step of the way — cheering him on, celebrating his milestones, sponsoring his charitable efforts and admiring his perseverance. His attitude perfectly reflects the qualities that make him such a valued part of our team: driven, determined, and always motivated to make a difference.

The Impact

After months of preparation and countless hurdles overcome, Andy not only completed the half marathon — he smashed his fundraising goal, raising an incredible £3,132 for Sue Ryder Hospice. Running alongside his daughters made the achievement even more special and emotional. Andy and his daughters surpassed their goal to raise £1000 each, with Andy raising £1002, Samantha raising £1090 and Daniella raising £1070.

From everyone at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP, we want to say a huge congratulations to Andy. Your determination, compassion, and positive spirit are an inspiration to us all.

ServiceMaster Clean is participating in the third annual Forget Me Knot Challenge to support Alzheimer’s Society.

Alzheimer’s is commonly misunderstood as a natural part of ageing.

However, it is a deadly neurological disease that is currently the UK’s biggest killer, estimated to affect 1 in 2 people in the UK in their lifetime.

This year, ServiceMaster brands across the UK have once again partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society to help them provide help and hope to the 900,000+ people living with dementia in the UK.

Throughout 2025, we’re working closely with our friends at the Alzheimer’s Society to raise a further £10,000 as part of our commitment to supporting them in their cause.

And as part of our fundraising commitment, our businesses nationwide are again undertaking the Forget Me Knot Challenge.

But what is the Forget Me Knot Challenge? And how can you get involved?

This blog post has all the details.

What is the Forget Me Knot Challenge?

The Alzheimer’s Society is represented by the forget-me-not flower, long associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia due to its impact on memory loss.

The Forget Me Knot Challenge is a sponsored virtual relay in which staff and owners from our businesses across the UK run, walk, or cycle the equivalent total mileage between each of our businesses, tying them together and raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society: creating the Forget Me Knot.

A staff member from ServiceMaster LNP has been featured on ITV News as part of a story on International Women’s Day.

Davinder Ghattoura, one of the Area Supervisors at ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services in Leicester, has become a local hero after featuring in a story for ITV News.

The story, for International Women’s Day, focused on an initiative from Leicester City Football Club to encourage women into the sport.

The Leicester City Active Women programme is headed by Rukshana Hussain, who aims to support local women by helping them get into the sport to improve their social and physical skills.

Davinder, who works for ServiceMaster LNP, was interviewed by ITV News’ Arul Lal as one of the many women who have taken part in and benefitted from the scheme since it launched in May 2022.

Speaking on the importance of women’s contribution and participation in football and other sports, Davinder told ITV News:

“Women need to be recognised.”

“You’re not just the housewife doing the cooking,” she said.

“You can go out there, you can do sports. Any sport you like.”

Davinder also highlighted the significance of schemes like Leicester City Active Women, which foster belief and encourage women from all backgrounds to break out of traditional societal expectations and moulds.

Particularly the support from other women, Davinder says.

“You need to get encouragement from other women.”

Heading towards its first anniversary, the scheme’s leader says it goes beyond football, as there is such value in providing a community for women who need a space, a voice, and encouragement from their peers.

ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Leicester, Northampton and Peterborough are proud to be supporting a very worthwhile charity “Scotty’s Little Soldiers”.

Sandra Webster has worked at ServiceMaster as Operations Manager for over 28 years now and has this to say:

‘My Grandchildren lost their father in Afghanistan 10yrs ago at the end of June, and my granddaughter was 6 at the time. As her father was in the para’s she has said from an early age that once she reached 16yrs she would do a sponsored parachute jump for the charity that has supported both her and her brother since the time of their fathers passing. Having just turned 16 she has now been able to put this in place. Her charity is Scotty’s Little Soldiers, an amazing charity that have given so much support when needed, and run by army wives and ex-army wives. She will be doing the parachute jump on her father’s memorial day 27th June. In just a couple of weeks she has raised an astounding amount of over £1,774 from generous donations for this worthwhile cause, this even more amazing being that the original target was £500.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers is a charity dedicated to supporting children & young people who have lost a parent whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.

Inspired by the experience of Army widow Nikki Scott following the death of her husband Cpl Lee Scott in Afghanistan in 2009, the charity is currently providing assistance to hundreds of bereaved Forces children around the UK.
