Going the Distance: Andy’s Incredible Half Marathon for Sue Ryder

At ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Peterborough, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our people — both in and out of work. This month, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our own: Andy Skutela, a dedicated Supervisor from our Peterborough team, who has shown extraordinary determination and heart in taking on a truly meaningful challenge.

Great Eastern Run

On 12th October 2025, Andy took part in the Great Eastern Run — a half marathon with a personal mission. His goal was to raise £1,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, a charity that has supported Andy and his family through some of their most difficult times.

For Andy, this wasn’t just about giving back — it was also about pushing himself further than he ever thought possible. After a major ankle surgery that involved a bone graft from his hip, Andy faced a long and painful recovery. There were moments when he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to run again. Yet, through sheer determination, he refused to let that stop him.

The Backstory

During his training, Andy also battled two nodules on his lungs and other breathing difficulties, making this challenge not only physical but deeply emotional and mental as well. His resilience, strength, and spirit have inspired everyone across the ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP network.

The entire team has been behind Andy every step of the way — cheering him on, celebrating his milestones, sponsoring his charitable efforts and admiring his perseverance. His attitude perfectly reflects the qualities that make him such a valued part of our team: driven, determined, and always motivated to make a difference.

The Impact

After months of preparation and countless hurdles overcome, Andy not only completed the half marathon — he smashed his fundraising goal, raising an incredible £3,132 for Sue Ryder Hospice. Running alongside his daughters made the achievement even more special and emotional. Andy and his daughters surpassed their goal to raise £1000 each, with Andy raising £1002, Samantha raising £1090 and Daniella raising £1070.

ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP won multiple growth awards during this year’s ServiceMaster Spring Forward event.

ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services and Merry Maids businesses from across the UK rallied in Coventry this month for our Spring Forward event.

The day was packed with informative sessions from Team Academy on how owners and staff can utilise their natural superpowers to create an impact in their businesses.

The day was rounded off with a gala dinner and awards evening that saw franchise business owners from both brands awarded for their accomplishments over the last year.

How ServiceMaster Clean LNP is working to support local food banks.

As part of their ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services LNP are supporting local food banks in Leicester, Northampton and Peterborough to help their local community.

Teaming up with the Trussell Trust Network, an organisation that supports a nationwide network of over 1,300 food banks providing emergency food and aid to people facing hardship while campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

This year, the LNP team are providing food parcels to food banks in Leicester, Northampton & Peterborough for new clients who achieve a specific spend.

Grow My Tree Initiatives

Together, they are working to plant a tree in honour of every new client that achieves a specific spend as part of the team’s ongoing commitment to fight climate change and as an effective and sustainable way forward.

This naturally combats climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, outputting oxygen, and ensuring healthy soil.

One new tree neutralises approximately 22kg of carbon dioxide, and since August, the team have planted 16 trees, the offsetting outcome of which is approximate to the carbon dioxide output of:

  • Consuming 9,600g of beef
  • Consuming 2544kg of vegetables
  • 16 train journeys between Cologne – Munich
  • 3,68% of one person’s annual CO2 emissions
